About this Happiness Blog

Welcome to the Happsters, a blog about happiness. I believe that happiness comes when you focus on the 4 G’s: Gratitude, Growth, Giving & Gathering, so I focus a lot on these four elements of a happy life in my writing. I’m all about supporting others, appreciating everything I have, continuing to learn and grow, striving to help others, and coming together as a community.

About the Author

My name is Kelli & I live in San Diego, CA with my husband, Billy. I’m a life-long learner and enjoy finding new ways to increase happiness and joy, spread kindness, express creativity, and deepen my connection to myself, my community, and the planet. A few courses I’ve completed that have impacted what is included in this blog are the “Science of Happiness” Course through UC Berkeley, “Mindfulness Fundamentals” through Mindful Schools, and the Sacred Wild Apprenticeship. I graduated from USC in 2010 and started the Happsters in January of 2013 when I was inspired by a news clip of volunteers from an organization called “Happier Boston” performing random acts of kindness at their local train station. In that moment I had an “aha” moment that would change me forever. I realized I wanted to complete as many random acts of kindness”as possible and start a movement called “Happsters.” Within a few days I created this blog and printed thousands of “happy notes” that I sent around the world for free so others could leave kind words for people they came into contact with each day: mail carriers, waiters, their loved ones, strangers, etc.

Since then, we’ve created a beautiful community both here and on Instagram of amazing people who want to spread kindness, learn about happiness, and connect with other kind people. I hope you’ll join me on this journey! Questions or comments? Email me at happsters@gmail.com.

Happsters has been featured on BuzzFeedCosmopolitan Magazine, USA Today,  Self Magazine, MTVHuffington Post, The Wine & Spirits Podcast with Monica the Medium, Everyday Health and many more.

A few fun facts about me:

♥ Community is incredibly important to me, both online and offline, and is a big part of the reason that the Happsters has become such a meaningful part of my life. I’ve met the BEST people through this movement and I am so grateful for all of you.

♥ I loooooove a good quote and think that a simple sentence has the potential to change how we view the world. I share quotes on my Instagram page.

♥ One of the activities that makes me happiest is gardening. Right now I’m growing cut flowers in my backyard and am on a mission to give away 1 million flowers. You can learn more about my flower adventures here.

♥ Sandwiches are my favorite meal and I eat them every day – sometimes multiple times a day – and avocados are my literal jam (on everything).

♥ My favorite game is Tetris and my favorite sport is ping-pong.

♥ I took guitar lessons after college for 6 months and came out only learning half of Eric Clapton’s song “Tears in Heaven.”

♥ Kittens are an instant happiness boost for me and I look up pictures of random kittens daily.

♥ I like to think of myself as crafty, but my husband ends up finishing most of my projects.

P.S. I started the Happsters for fun and have a full-time job (at Inspire360), so I try to get back to everyone as quickly as possible. Please be patient with me :). Sending you love!

  4. I love this, I reckon the world would definitely be a better place if people smiled and shared happiness more often! I have become very interested in positive psychology and if you are interested in understanding happiness, here is a very good book about it: Authentic Happiness by Martin Seligman. He also have a website where you can take some test to discover how happy you are: http://www.authentichappiness.org... I am definitely a happster and will proudly where the badge of honour! Keep up the good work!

  10. hey there!

Thank you for following my blog a few mths ago! I just wanna share with you that I have recently changed host (nearly died along the way 🙂 ) and if you like, please come again to my blog and you can type in your email address as with the change in host from wordpress, new posts will not get delivered to your email address like the last time.

So if you like posts to get delivered to your email address like the past, you have to type in your email again. It only appears in your reader now, so if that works for you, then it is ok.

    thank you

    1. Thanks so much! I am from San Diego! I just moved out of PB a few days ago in fact. I read your “about me” and it said you are moving to San Francisco. 😦 when do you move? Would love to meet you!

      1. I move on Friday 😦 I wish we had connected sooner, because I would have loved to meet you, too! Maybe next time I’m in town we can grab some caffeine?

  13. Hey Happsters! Thanks so much for following my author blog! I LOVE all the positive vibes emanating from your website. I’m 100% behind you! Let’s have a love revolution! 🙂

  14. Thanks for following me Happsters! It’s nice to see someone spreading happiness. The idea that it was the “Happier Boston” signs that got you thinking touched me. Until a year and a half ago, I lived right outside of Boston and identify with it. A “Happier Boston” can have so many meanings, but I would love to see that sign in the form of “Happier World”. I think although we have different approaches we are both working toward the end, a happier tomorrow for all…

    Good Luck!

Until next time, Dream Big, Live Well and Be Safe!
