I Want to Get to Know You & Send Some Happy Mail!

Hi friends! Long time, no talk! I’ve been super active over on Instagram, but not so much here on the blog. I hope you’ll follow me there so we can stay in touch more frequently.

Onto the topic for the day! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get to know each one of you a little better and I came up with an idea!

8 months ago I started HappsterMail, a pen pal program where I match up two happy people to write notes back and forth to each other. I am currently on hiatus from matching up pen pals as I am focusing on other projects, but will resume that program again next year. I love seeing those how those friendships formed and I want to take it up a notch!

HappsterMail

Now onto my newest project: I want to send YOU some happy mail now. Not only do I want to spread the love, but I also want to get to you know you personally! I’m going to start with sending 10 people mail and see how it goes. If all goes well, I’ll do it again and again. If you want me to send you some HappsterMail, all you have to do it follow this link to fill out a 2 minute form about yourself. I’ll pick 10 of you to send mail to at random. This should be fun!!

I’m no expert by any means, but I promise to make them with lots of love!

More Love Letters

More Love Letters

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a website called “More Love Letters“. The title intrigued me and when I dug deeper into what it was, I was sold. The concept? To leave letters of encouragement throughout your community and mail letters to strangers who send in love letter requests. You can visit this page on their site to find requests from people who need a little cheering up. They give their story and an address where you can send them a note.

So I decided I had to send some out and called one of my favorite blogger babes, London to do it with me!

More Love Letters

We wrote to Rosie, who is just going off to college and broke her arm right before leaving. Three weeks in a cast, but I know she’ll bounce back!

And we sent notes to Victor, whose friend wrote in asking for us to make his birthday extra special by sending in a fun card.

We had lots of fun writing these cards and I can’t wait to mail them out. Hopefully it brightens their days a little bit. My challenge for you this week: Grab a friend, pick up some stationary and write some love letters to strangers!

P.S. While I’ll be updating the Happsters blog a little less frequently, I’m still very active on Instagram, where you can get daily Happsters inspiration.

Happy Explosion

The Ultimate Random Acts of Kindness Movement - Happy Explosion

As you may know, I created this blog in an effort to spread as much happiness as possible. The world needs more happy people!

I had this new idea while falling asleep the other night (when some of my best ideas come to me) and I got so excited that I could barely fall asleep. I’ve decided to create something called the “Happy Explosion”. Here’s how it will work:

1) Every week I’m going to spread happiness in a different way and leave it up to YOU to tell me how.

2) I’ll give you some options (you can come up with your own if you want!) and I’ll take the most popular happy act from the comments to do.

3) I’ll announce what happy act I’m going to do on Monday and then post about the experience on the next Saturday.

4) If you have a blog, I’d love for you to post your random act of happiness there.  I’ll post a link up on Saturday’s post so we can all see each other’s Happy Explosions of the week!

How does that sound? Ready for the first week?

Happy Explosion: Week 1

Should we:

A) Buy the person’s coffee behind us

B) Leave a note of gratitude for our mailman

C) Leave a sweet treat on a co-workers desk

D) You choose

You can use the button below on your blog if you want to participate in the Happy Explosion!

Let’s Not Try to Figure Out Everything at Once

Lately I feel like I’ve been rushing from one thing to the next. I have a tendency to try to multi-task and get everything done as fast as I can. That’s why I love the quote:

“Let’s not try to figure out everything at once.”

Here’s my mantra for today. Hopefully it will remind you to be more present as well.

Today I will:

Go with the flow
Breathe deeply
Live in the moment
Focus on the task at hand
Take my time
Notice the little things
Accept what is
Relax♥

Do you multi-task a lot or are you good at focusing on one thing at a time? Let me know in the comments!

Why a Road Trip Might be Exactly What You Need

Why a Road Trip Might Be Exactly What You Need

When I first started dating my boyfriend, he insisted upon going on a road trip together. But road trips didn’t make much sense to me; “What’s the point of a road trip when you can get there faster on a plane?”, I asked. Finally, he convinced me to take a road trip with him to Big Sur, California. I didn’t see it then, but the road trip was exactly what I needed. Now I understand the power of road trips and their ability to boost happiness and strengthen relationships. Continue reading “Why a Road Trip Might be Exactly What You Need”

How to Make a Happiness Jar

Happiness JarHave you ever heard of a happiness jar?  The concept behind it is that you write something that makes you happy on a piece of paper every day and put it into the jar. Whenever you need a pick-me-up, dig into your jar and read your happy thoughts! I initially wrote about happiness jars here.

While you can certainly have a happiness jar with any jar that you have in your home, I thought it would be fun to make one with a DIY colored mason jar. Here’s how I did it:
