It’s finally here: Power of a Smile Day (June 15th)! Did you even know there was such a thing? While I know you all practice your smiling skills every day, today we should all be especially conscious of our smiles. Maybe take this day to hand out a happy note or two at the same time!

#1 Smiling releases endorphins. These endorphins relieve stress and help you feel better.
#2 Smiling is known as an expression of happiness and acceptance across all cultures.

#4 Babies start smiling in their sleep as soon as they’re born. Smiling is something that comes naturally and isn’t learned.
#5 Smiling can reduce your blood pressure. Researchers found that when subjects smiled continuously for a minute, their blood pressure decreased.
#6 There are 19 types of smiles expressing different emotions. From heart-felt smiles to polite smiles, we can express ourselves in 19 different ways just by smiling.

I know, I know…Finding your passion is easier said than done. Some lucky people know what their passion is from an early age, but most have to work to figure it out. When you find your passion, you are not just happier yourself, but your passion becomes contagious and inspires others to find their own passion. One of my favorite quotes about passion is “When we focus on leading a passionate, meaningful life, we are also inadvertently creating a spectacular ripple effect of inspiration in the lives around us. When one person follows a dream, tries something new, or takes a daring leap, everyone nearby feels their passionate energy; and before too long, they are making their own daring leaps while simultaneously inspiring others.”
Not sure yet what your passion is? Here are some questions to ask yourself:
1. Are there certain activities that come easy to me?
2. Are there certain subjects that I gravitate towards when reading books, watching movies, etc.?
3. Do I enjoy certain activities enough to do them for extended periods of time?
4. What topics do I love to talk about and learn about?
5. What are my strengths?
Hopefully some of these questions will help guide you in finding your passion. Have you found something you’re passionate about or are you still looking? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve started noticing more and more happiness movements popping up recently, so I decided to compile a few of my favorites to share with you! Here are 6 happiness movements everyone should know about:

365 Grateful Project – Source
1. 365 Grateful Project – A documentary about the extraordinary power of gratitude has turned into a global movement. In an effort to fight depression, Hailey decided to take one Polaroid photo a day of something she felt grateful for. Hailey posted her project on flickr and gradually others began to do their own versions of the 365 Grateful project.

You Are Beautiful Stickers – Source
2. You Are Beautiful – Matthew Hoffman started the You Are Beautiful project by creating stickers that say “you are beautiful” on them. The movement has grown in the past decade from just 100 stickers to a half million stickers posted around the globe. He sends anyone who wants to be part of the movement 5 free stickers.

Happy Fridays at USC – Source
3. Happy Fridays at USC – Students at the University of Southern California (USC) started a happiness movement out of their love for Fridays. Each Friday they randomly distribute treats around USC’s campus to other students. They are always homemade and filled with love.

Happier Boston – Source
4. Happier Boston – The movement is exactly what it sounds like. Sponsored by Samaritans, a non-denominational, not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of suicide, their goal is to make Boston a happier place. They were recently featured on the Today Show for carrying happy signs and handing out oranges to people walking by at a Boston train station.

Delivering Happiness – Source
