Special Gratitude Sunday

Gratitude Sunday

When is the last time you thought about someone you were grateful for? Have you gone a step further and told that person why you were grateful for him? This week, I wanted to share an amazing video about the power of gratitude and the impact it has on happiness.

First, subjects were given a test and asked to rate their current level of happiness. Then they were asked to think of someone who was really influential in their lives and write down as much as they could about why this person was so important. What they didn’t know was that they would have to call that person and read what they wrote. Take a look at what happens…

Here are a few things (and people) I’m grateful for today:  Continue reading “Special Gratitude Sunday”

Gratitude Sunday

Happy Gratitude Sunday, everyone! I hope you’ve all had a happy week. I saw this quote the other day and think it encompasses the reason that Gratitude is so important.

“Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy — because we will always want to have something else or something more.” — Brother David Steindl-Rast

How to Make a Happiness Jar

Happiness JarHave you ever heard of a happiness jar?  The concept behind it is that you write something that makes you happy on a piece of paper every day and put it into the jar. Whenever you need a pick-me-up, dig into your jar and read your happy thoughts! I initially wrote about happiness jars here.

While you can certainly have a happiness jar with any jar that you have in your home, I thought it would be fun to make one with a DIY colored mason jar. Here’s how I did it:

When you feel grateful and happy, you aren’t able to feel negative emotions like anger or envy. Let go of any stress that you’ve ben holding onto this week right now and remind yourself of all of the great things are going on.

Talking about Our Problems Is Our Greatest Addiction

What you focus on manifests itself in your life. Are you focusing on your joys?  Remember that consistently talking about your problems will not make them better.

Live each moment fully.
Enjoy every small blessing that comes your way.
Say thank you to the universe.
Your life is now, not yesterday, not tomorrow. ♥

Huge Announcement: The Beginning of Paper Nostalgia

Have you ever heard of PostSecret where you mail in your secrets? Announcing something similar called Paper Nostalgia, where you'll send in a postcard of one of your happiest memories.

You have been doing an incredible job spreading happiness through happy notes. 10,000 happy notes have been mailed out so far!

Now it’s YOUR turn to send me a note. This note will be different from the normal happy notes. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all connect through our happiest memories?

I want you to send me homemade postcards with one of your happiest memories. Similar to PostSecret (my inspiration for this project!), you’ll send me a postcard to the mailing address below with an artistic representation (can be a photo, drawing, painting, etc.) and a sentence or two about your happy memory. The memory can be big or small – anything from a life-changing event to a realization you came to. We (hopefully) have thousands of happy memories, so feel free to send as many as you’d like. One Happster may send a postcard about seeing her child’s first steps, while another may send one about seeing a beautiful sunset.  Continue reading “Huge Announcement: The Beginning of Paper Nostalgia”
